Food Ideas for a Couple's Baby Shower

Choosing food for your couple's baby shower is the easiest and most important part of your party planning. One thing men love to do is eat!

You want to keep these men happy and content at your baby shower so make sure to choose hearty foods. You can still plan to serve lighter foods for the ladies but make sure to include plenty of meat for the guys. Also make sure to find out if any of your guests have any food sensitivities.

Here are a few baby shower food ideas that are sure to keep those men happy:

  • Appetizers & Finger Foods - Nacho dip & chips, spinach dip with crackers or crusty chunks of bread, chicken wings, finger sandwiches, deviled eggs, pigs in a blanket, Swedish meatballs.

  • Main Entrees - BBQ chicken, fried chicken, enchiladas, chili.
  • Side Dishes - potato salad, pasta salad, mac & cheese

It's best to keep your menu easy so that you will have time to mingle with the guests rather than be stuck in the kitchen. Find some more great baby shower food ideas and recipes here.

Just keep in mind when you are planning your coed baby shower to keep it neutral and guy-friendly and you wont' go wrong. The expecting daddy will appreciate that he was included in this very special event.

If you are looking for the perfect baby shower centerpiece this couple's diaper cake will make the perfect addition to your table decorations. It's available in either pink or blue and is decorated with adorable baby items that say "I Love Mommy" and "I Love Daddy".

Planning a Couple's Baby Shower - Choosing Baby Shower Favors

OK ladies, so you are planning a couple’s baby shower and are perplexed about what kind of baby shower favors to give your guests. Let’s face it, baby shower favors are designed with women in mind. They are cute and feminine!

So what do you give the guys that are attending a coed baby shower? There are not too many men that are into candles or bath confetti, and they won't go gaga over those adorable baby bottles filled with candy.

Well, let’s think about what guys enjoy -

  • Food - What guy doesn’t like to eat? You know the old saying: The way to a guy’s heart is through his stomach. Cookies or candy are always a sure bet. Wrap them in a piece of tulle tied with a ribbon or an organza bag. You could also use Chinese style take-out boxes or neutral color favor boxes. Bubble gum cigars are also another good choice.

  • Sports themed key chains or t-shirts.

  • Movie rental gift certificates or lottery tickets.

If you want to give the ladies at the party something feminine, there is no reason why you can’t buy separate baby shower favors for them.

Just remember when choosing the favors for a coed baby shower to keep them neutral for the men.

Planning a Couple's Baby Shower - Choosing Invitations

More and more couple's are planning coed baby showers. I personally think it is a great idea to include the expecting daddy. He has every right to be included, he did help create the expected bundle of joy!

In the past men were excluded from baby showers because they can be very feminine. With a few tweaks you can turn your baby shower into a guy friendly party.

When choosing invitations for your couple's baby shower pick an invitation that is "man friendly". The idea here is to attempt to get other men to join the baby shower. If some of the expecting daddy's friends are there he will not feel out of place in a room full of women.

Here a few baby shower invitation ideas that will work for a coed shower:

  • If both parents like sports, you might want to find an invitation that is decorated with their favorite sport or sports team.

  • Western theme.

  • Transportation theme - trains, planes, & automobiles.

  • Couple's design

All of these great invitations can be found at Partyinvitations.com.

Don't forget, you should mail your invitations 2 - 3 weeks before the baby shower.
